Julian Koplin joined the Executive Board Office of Director Mark Lawrence in September 2022 as a scientific officer.
Prior to his current position, he worked as a research associate at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven, focusing on the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems of the North and Baltic Sea, as well as insights into the potential of carbon uptake in marine ecosystems.
Julian Koplin completed his bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Hamburg and master's degree in marine and climate sciences at the University of Gibraltar. He worked among other things on the effects of climate change on zooplankton communities in the Arctic and the Mediterranean Sea.
